The power of artistic expression can be especially examined by focusing on the voids that exist within and around it. While absence and silence are an ironic approach to presenting what we would expect to be visual or aural experiences, they provide evidence that sound and sight are such inherent forces within us that their exclusion, as artistic intent, becomes poetry as potent as their presence. While the experience requires our patience and concentration, the void is also a form of generosity, offering an alternative artistic voice or a place for our imagination. The concerted effort towards deeper empathy and digging beyond the surface is ultimately rewarded by involving us. A reminder that we, as recipients, are part of the puzzle that makes Art essential.
